Main themes

My main themes of research concern how to best use a computer as a tool to help us deal with complex systems. This includes amongst other things:

  • Machine learning and statistics.
  • Theoretical concepts about complexity, causality, and emergence.
  • Time series analysis and dynamical concepts, signal processing to a lesser extent.
  • Algorithmic and knowing how to make good use of a computer.
  • Application domains to which the generic tools can be applied.

I am currently working on what I called the decisional states of a system.

You can see the list of my publications on this page.

Scientific activities

I am involved with the following groups and projects:

Scientific computing

The algorithms and experiments detailed in my publications are available as free/libre software. You'll find some code in the Software section of this site that are independant and reusable for your own experiments.

Affiliation

I am currently on a short term teaching and research contract with the University of Rennes 1. The teaching part is about networking at the Institut Universitaire de Technologie in St Malo. The research part is done with the LTSI laboratory, a signal processing research group dedicated to medical applications.

Work experience

My initial background is in engineering and I spent a few years in the space industry. In 2004 I decided to quit my job at EADS in order to start a PhD abroad. Back in France in 2007 I got a post-doctorate position at the INRIA of Rennes. Since september 2008 I am on teaching and research short contract with the university. More information can be found in my resume.
